Description:
The cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2 or prostaglandin G/H synthase 2) is a dioxygenase and peroxidase enzyme that is a mediator of inflammation and is involved in prostanoid signaling in activity-dependent plasticity. COX-2 is the target of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory druds such as aspirin.
