Isotype: Rabbit Ig
Applications: E, WB, IHC
Protein Family: Enzymes
Pathway and Disease: Cancers, Lipid Metabolism, Signaling Molecules and Interaction
Description:
Arachidonate 5-lipoxygenase (ALOX5) catalyzes the first step in leukotriene biosynthesis and plays a role in inflammatory processes. 5-lipoxygenase is expressed specifically in bone marrow-derived cells. This enzyme catalyzes the conversion of arachidonic acid to 5(S)-hydroperoxy-6-trans-8,11,14-cis-eicosatetraenoic acid, and further to the allylic epoxide 5(s)-trans-7,9-trans-11,14-cis-eicosatetrenoic acid (leukotriene A4). Mutations in the promoter region of this gene lead to a diminished response to antileukotriene drugs used in the treatment of asthma. These mutations are also associated with atherosclerosis and several cancers.
Alternate Names: Arachidonate 5-lipoxygenase, 5-lipoxygenase, 5-LO, ALOX5, 5-LOX, LOG5
Application Notes: E: 1:500-1:1,000; WB: 1:100-1:500; IHC: 1:100-1:500
Accession No.: P09917
Antigen: KLH-conjugated synthetic peptide encompassing a sequence within the N-term region of human 5-lipoxygenase.
Format: Each vial contains 0.1 mg IgG in 0.1 ml (1 mg/ml) of PBS pH7.4 with 0.09% sodium azide. Antibody was purified by Protein-G affinity chromatography.
Storage:
Store at -20°C. Minimize freeze-thaw cycles. Product is guaranteed one year from the date of shipment.
