Fatty acid binding protein (adipocyte) (A-FABP) is a lipid transport protein in adipocytes. This protein binds both long chain fatty acids and retinoic acid. Fatty acid binding protein (adipocyte) delivers long-chain fatty acids and retinoic acid to their cognate receptors in the nucleus. Recombinant A-FABP comprises a 132 amino acid fragment (1-132) corresponding to the human adipocyte FABP protein and is expressed in E. coli with an amino-terminal hexahistidine tag.
