Protein Family: Cytokines
Pathway and Disease: Endocrine System, Signal Transduction, Signaling Molecules and interaction, Nervous and Sensory Systems
Alternate Names: Inhibin beta-1, FRP, FSH-releasing protein, Inhibin beta A chain, Activin A, INHBA, Activin beta-A chain, Erythroid differentiation protein, EDFDescription:
Activin A is a member of the TGFbeta family of proteins produced by many cell types throughout development. Activins interact with Type I and Type II serine/threonine kinases to signal to SMAD proteins to regulate a variety of functions, including cell proliferation, differentiation, wound healing, apoptosis, metabolism, etc. Activin A is a homodimer of two beta A chains and is not biologically active until the N terminal propeptide is cleaved from each. Mouse Activin A has 100% amino acid sequence identity to human, rat, porcine, bovine and feline proteins. Mouse Activin A is produced in E.coli. Recombinant mouse Activin A is a non-glycosylated homodimer, containing two 117 amino acid chains, with a total molecular weight of 26.2 kDa.
Source: E. coli. Endotoxin level as measured by LAL is <0.05ng/ug or <0.5EU/ug.
Applications: E, WB
Application Notes:
The activity is determined by the ability to induce cytoxicity of MPC-11 cells and is typically less than 2 ng/mL. Specific activity: 5 x 10e5 units/mg
Accession No.: Q04998
MW: 26200 Da
Sequence:
MGLECDGKVN ICCKKQFFVS FKDIGWNDWI IAPSGYHANY CEGECPSHIA GTSGSSLSFH STVINHYRMR GHSPFANLKS CCVPTKLRPM SMLYYDDGQN IIKKDIQNMI VEECGCS
Purity:
Purity > 95% as determined by RP-HPLC and reducing and non-reducing SDS-PAGE. Protein Content determined by UV spectroscopy at 280 nm and analysis by RP-HPLC calibrated against a known standard. Quantitation on SDS-PAGE against a known standard.
Format:
Each vial contains 10 ug of lyophilized protein. Reconstitute with 0.1 ml sterile deionized water for a final concentration of 0.1 mg/ml.
Storage: Store at -20°C. Product is guaranteed one year from the date of shipment. Following reconstitution, store at -20°C. We recommend to add a carrier protein (0.1% HSA or BSA) for long term storage.
