Background:
ALOX5AP is a protein which, with 5-lipoxygenase, is required for leukotriene synthesis. Leukotrienes are arachidonic acid metabolites which have been implicated in various types of inflammatory responses, including asthma, arthritis and psoriasis. This protein localizes to the plasma membrane. Inhibitors of its function impede translocation of 5-lipoxygenase from the cytoplasm to the cell membrane and inhibit 5-lipoxygenase activation.
Other Names:
Arachidonate 5-lipoxygenase-activating protein, FLAP, MK-886-binding protein, ALOX5AP, FLAP
Target/Specificity:
The synthetic peptide sequence used to generate the antibody AP7897b was selected from the C-term region of human ALOX5AP. A 10 to 100 fold molar excess to antibody is recommended. Precise conditions should be optimized for a particular assay.
Gene Name: ALOX5AP
Gene ID: 241
Primary Accession: P20292
Format: Peptides are lyophilized in a solid powder format. Peptides can be reconstituted in solution using the appropriate buffer as needed.
