AMP (2-Amino-2-methyl-1-propanol) buffer has a 0.2M concentration. AMP is found in the Good's buffer category. AMP has been shown to be suited for the determination of the activity of enzymes such as alkaline phosphatase, lactate and malate dehydrogenase. AMP has various uses such as, the synthesis of 2-oxazolidinones via carbonylation with CO when salen-cobalt catalysts are present, and the extraction of carboxylic acids for GC analysis.

Synonyms : β-Aminoisobutyl alcohol, AMP 100, AMP 75, AMP 90, AMP, 2-Amino-2-methyl-propan-1-ol; Karl Fischer; Aqualine Electrolyte AD-G

The useful pH range of the buffer makes it well suited for the determination of the activity of enzymes like alkaline phosphatase, lactate and malate dehydrogenase.
AMP may also be used for the determination of the activity of human chymase in composite buffer system.
The working concentration for use with alkaline phosphatase ranges from 350 - 900 mM, for lactate dehydrogenase and malate dehydrogenase at 100 mM and chymase in the composite buffer at 52 mM .
