Background:
A large protein complex, termed the anaphase-promotingcomplex (APC), or the cyclosome, promotes metaphase-anaphasetransition by ubiquitinating its specific substrates such asmitotic cyclins and anaphase inhibitor, which are subsequentlydegraded by the 26S proteasome.
