Protein Family: Cellular Antigens, Cytokines
Pathway and Disease: Immune System, Signal Transduction, Signaling Molecules and Interaction
Alternate Names: TALL, BLyS, THANK , BAFF, Tumor necrosis factor ligand superfamily member 13B, B-cell-activating factor, Dendritic cell-derived TNF-like molecule, TNF- and APOL-related leukocyte expressed ligand 1, TNFSF20, ZTNF4, CD257Description:
Human B cell Activating Factor (BAFF), is a Type II member of the TNF superfamily. Although it is typically a transmembrane protein expressed on T cells, macrophages and dendritic cells, it can also be cleaved in the extracellular region to produce a soluble form detectable in the serum. BAFF is thought to be important for the survival and maturation of peripheral B cells. BAFF initiates signaling through three receptors with human BAFF having activity on mouse splenocytes. Human BAFF is produced in E.coli. Recombinant human BAFF is a non-glycosylated protein containing a N terminal His tag, a thrombin cut site and 153 amino acids of the TNF-like domain. This protein has a total molecular weight of 18.5 kDa.
Source: E. coli. Endotoxin level as measured by LAL is <0.05ng/ug or <0.5EU/ug.
Applications: E, WB
Application Notes:
The activity is determined by a RPMI-8226 cell survival assay in the presence of 0.2 uM DEX and is typically less than 30 ng/mL. Specific activity: 6.7 x 10e4 units/mg
Accession No.: Q9Y275
MW: 18500 Da
Sequence:

Purity:
Purity > 95% as determined by RP-HPLC and reducing and non-reducing SDS-PAGE. Protein Content determined by UV spectroscopy at 280 nm and analysis by RP-HPLC calibrated against a known standard. Quantitation on SDS-PAGE against a known standard.
Format:
Each vial contains 20 ug of lyophilized protein. Reconstitute with 0.2 ml sterile deionized water for a final concentration of 0.1 mg/ml.
Storage: Store at -20°C. Product is guaranteed one year from the date of shipment. Following reconstitution, store at -20°C. We recommend to add a carrier protein (0.1% HSA or BSA) for long term storage.
Pathway and Disease: Immune System, Signal Transduction, Signaling Molecules and Interaction
