Size: 0.1 mg
Isotype: Rabbit Ig
Applications: E, WB, IHC
Protein Family: Chaperones and Folding Catalysts
Pathway and Disease: Cancers, Cell Communication, Cell Growth and Death, Nervous and Sensory Systems, Neurodegenerative Disorders
Description:
Bcl-2 blocks cell death following a variety of stimuli and confers a death sparing effect to a certain hematopoietic cell lines following growth factor withdrawal. Bcl-2 appears to function in several subcellular locations yet lacks any known motifs that would confer insight into its mechanism of action. A more recently identified protein, designated as Bax (Bcl-2 associated X protein, Bcl2-L-4, BCL2L4 associated X protein) has exstensive amino acid homology with Bcl-2 and both homodimerizes and forms heterodimers with Bcl-2. Overexpression of Bax accelrates apoptotic death induced by cytokine deprivation in an IL-3 dependent cell line and Bax also counters the death repressor activity of Bcl-2.
Alternate Names: Bax, Bcl-2 associated X protein, Apoptosis regulator BAX, Bcl-2-like protein 4, Bcl-2-like protein 4, Bcl2-L-4, BAX, BCL2L4
Application Notes: E: 1:500-1:1,000; WB: 1:100-1:500; IHC: 1:100-1:500
Accession No.: Q07812
Antigen: KLH-conjugated synthetic peptide encompassing a sequence within the center region of human BAX.
Format: Each vial contains 0.1 mg IgG in 0.1 ml (1 mg/ml) of PBS pH7.4, 25% glycerol, 5 mg/ml BSA with 0.09% sodium azide. Antibody was purified by Protein-A affinity chromatography.
