Protein Family: Cytokines

Pathway and Disease: Cancers, Signal Transduction, Signaling Molecules and interaction

Alternate Names: Bone morphogenetic protein 2, BMP-2, BMP-2ADescription:
BMP-2 belongs to the bone-growth regulatory factors that are members of the transforming growth factor-beta (TGF-beta) superfamily of proteins. They are synthesized as large precursor molecules which are cleaved by proteolytic enzymes. The active form can consist of a dimer of two identical proteins or a heterodimer of two related bone morphogenetic proteins. Recombinant Human Bone Morphogenetic protein-2 produced in E. coli is a non-glycosylated homodimer containing 115 amino acids with a MW of 26,018 Da.

Source: E. coli. Endotoxin level as measured by LAL is <0.01ng/ug or <0.1EU/ug.

Applications: E, WB

Application Notes:
BMP-2 is fully biologically active when compared to standard. The ED50 as determined by the cytolysis of MC3T3-E1 cells is less then 50 ng/ml.

Accession No.: P12643

MW: 26018 Da

Purity:
Purity > 95% as determined by analysis by RP-HPLC and reducing and non-reducing SDS-PAGE. Protein Content determined by UV spectroscopy at 280 nm and analysis by RP-HPLC calibrated against a known standard. Quantitation on SDS-PAGE against a known standard.

Format:
Each vial contains 10 ug protein lyophilized in 10 mM sodium citrate, pH3.0. Reconstitute with 0.1 ml sterile deionized water for a final concentration of 0.1 mg/ml.

Storage: Store at -20°C. Product is guaranteed one year from the date of shipment. Following reconstitution, store at -20°C. We recommend to add a carrier protein (0.1% HSA or BSA) for long term storage.
