Size: 0.1 mg
Isotype: mouse IgG1
Applications: B, E, FC, IHC
Protein Family: Cell Adhesion Molecules, Cellular Antigens, Receptors and Channels
Pathway and Disease: Immune System, Signaling Molecules and Interaction
Description:
The CD42b (HIP1) antibody recognizes a heterodimer glycoprotein (GPIbα) that contains an α chain (CD42b, 145 kDa) and a β chain (CD42c, 22 kDa) linked by a disulfide bond forming a noncovalent complex with CD42a (GPIX) and d. CD42b antigen is expressed on platelets and megakaryocytes. The GPIb/IX complex (CD42a-d) serves as a receptor for von Willebrand Factor (vWF) and thrombin, and mediates adhesion of platelets to subendothelium of damaged vascular walls. The absence of the CD42 complex leads to the Bernard-Soulier Syndrome (BSS). The CD42b (HIP1) antibody inhibits the ristocetin-dependent binding of vWF to platelets, ristocetin-induced platelet agglutination, and partially inhibits collagen-induced aggregation.
Alternate Names: CD42b, Platelet glycoprotein Ib alpha chain, Glycoprotein Ibalpha, GP-Ib alpha, GPIb-alpha, GPIbA, Antigen CD42b-alpha, Glycocalicin
Application Notes: Purified antibody is suitable for immunohistochemistry with acetone-fixed frozen sections. The antibody also inhibits the ristocetin-dependent binding of vWF to platelets, ristocetin-induced platelet agglutination, and partially inhibits collagen-induced aggregation. E: 1:500-1:1,000; FC: 1:200-1:1,000; IHC: 1:200-1:500
Accession No.: P07359
Format: Each vial contains 0.1 mg IgG in 0.1 ml (1 mg/ml) of PBS pH7.4 with 0.09% sodium azide. Antibody was purified by Protein-G affinity chromatography.
