Corticotropin releasing factor (CRF), a hormone from the hypothalamus, regulates the release of corticotropin from the pituitary gland. Alzheimer's disease (AD) is characterized by dramatic reductions in levels of CRF expression and reciprocal reductions in expression of CRF receptors.
