Description:
The calcitonin receptor (CT-R) activates adenylyl cyclase through G proteins. CT-R is coupled to the heterotrimeric guanosine triphosphate-binding protein that is sensitive to cholera toxin. Genetic variations in CT-R is correlated with bone mineral density, a monitoring factor for osteoporosis.
