Protein Family: CAM Ligands

Pathway and Disease: Cell Growth and Death, Signaling Molecules and interaction

Alternate Names: connective tissue growth factor, hypertrophic chondrocyte-specific protein 24, CTGF, Insulin-like growth factor-binding protein 8, IGF-binding protein 8, IGFBP-8, IBP-8, CCN family member 2, CCN2, HCS24, IGFBP8Description:
Connective tissue growth factor (CTGF) belongs to the CCN family of secreted proteins. CTGF is a member of cysteine rich regulatory proteins playing an important role in mitogenic and chemotaxis. Each protein has an IGF-binding domain, a thrombospondin type 1 domain and cysteine knot region. CTGF has multiple effects on development and differentiation. H-CTGF is comprised of 98 amino acids with a molecular weight of 11.2 kDa.

Source: E. coli. Endotoxin level as measured by LAL is <0.01ng/ug or <0.1EU/ug.

Applications: E, WB

Application Notes:
Human CTGF is fully biologically active when compared to standard. Activity is determined by the dose-dependent stimulation of the proliferation of HUVEC cells. The expected ED50 is 0.08 – 1.8 µg/ml.

Accession No.: P29279

MW: 11200 Da

Sequence:
MGKKCIRTPK ISKPIKFELS GCTSMKTYRA KFCGVCTDGR CCTPHRTTTL PVEFKCPDGE VMKKNMMFIK TCACHYNCPG DNDIFESLYY RKMYGDMA.

Purity:
Purity > 98% as determined by RP-HPLC and reducing and non-reducing SDS-PAGE. Protein Content determined by UV spectroscopy at 280 nm and analysis by RP-HPLC calibrated against a known standard. Quantitation on SDS-PAGE against a known standard.

Format:
Each vial contains 20 ug of lyophilized protein. Reconstitute with 0.2 ml sterile 5 mM sodium acetate, pH 6.0 for a final concentration of 0.1 mg/ml.

Storage: Store at -20°C. Product is guaranteed one year from the date of shipment. Following reconstitution, store at -20°C. We recommend to add a carrier protein (0.1% HSA or BSA) for long term storage.
