Description:
DEK Oncogene Protein (DEK) gene encodes a protein involved in chromatin organization. DEK is mainly localized in regions where chromatin is decondensed or sparse in the interphase nuclei. DEK is also involved in splice site selection during mRNA processing. Chromosomal aberrations involving the DEK gene are found in a subset of acute myeloid leukemia (AML) known as acute non-lymphocytic leukemia.
