Description:
Ecarin is a snake venom zinc metalloproteinase that catalyzes the conversion of prothrombin (F2) to alpha-thrombin through formation of a thrombin intermediate. It has a low Km for prothrombin and a high kcat. It cleaves the 320-Arg-Ile-321 bond in prothrombin and produces meizothrombin which is ultimately converted to alpha-thrombin by autolysis. Ecarin MW is about 45 kDa after processing of propeptide with blood clotting activity. Product Cat. No. 200225 is the biotin conjugate of Cat. No. 200220.
