Protein Family: Cytokines
Pathway and Disease: Signal Transduction, Signaling Molecules and Interaction, Cell Communication, Cell Motility, Cancers
Alternate Names: Pro-epidermal growth factor, EGF, epidermal growth factor, urgastroneDescription:
Epidermal Growth Factor (EGF) has an effect on the differentiation of specific cells in vivo and is a potent mitogenic factor for a variety of cultured cells of both ectodermal and mesodermal origin. EGF stimulates the growth of various epidermal and epithelial tissues in vivo and in vitro and of some fibroblasts in cell culture. Recombinant Mouse Epidermal Growth Factor produced in E. coli is a single non-glycosylated polypeptide chain containing 53 amino acids including 3 intramolecular disulfide-bonds with a MW of 6 kDa.
Source: E. coli. Endotoxin level as measured by LAL is <0.01ng/ug or <0.1EU/ug.
Applications: E, WB
Application Notes:
Mouse EGF is fully biologically active when compared to standard. The ED50, calculated by the dose-dependent proliferation of mouse BALB/c 3T3 cells is 0.02 ng/ml.
Accession No.: P01132
MW: 6000 Da
Sequence:
NSYPGCPSSY DGYCLNGGVC MHIESLDSYT CNCVIGYSGD RCQTRDLRWW ELR
Purity:
Purity > 97% as determined by analytical HPLC and reducing and non-reducing SDS-PAGE. Protein Content determined by UV spectroscopy at 280 nm and quantitation on SDS-PAGE against a known standard.
Format:
Each vial contains 0.5 mg of lyophilized protein. Reconstitute with 0.5 ml sterile deionized water for a final concentration of 1 mg/ml.
Storage: Store at -20°C. Product is guaranteed one year from the date of shipment. Following reconstitution, store at -20°C. We recommend to add a carrier protein (0.1% HSA or BSA) for long term storage.
