Protein Family: Cytokines
Pathway and Disease: Signal Transduction, Signaling Molecules and Interaction, Cell Communication, Cell Motility, Cancers
Alternate Names: Pro-epidermal growth factor, EGF, epidermal growth factor, urogastroneDescription:
Epidermal Growth Factor (EGF) is a growth factor that stimulates the proliferation of epithelial and epidermal cells. EGF family members are characterized by three intramolecular disulfide bonds and can bind to four different receptor tyrosine kinases known as EGFR/ErbB1, ErbB2, ErbB3, and ErbB4. Rat EGF is produced in E.coli. Recombinant rat EGF is a non-glycosylated protein, containing 54 amino acids, with a molecular weight of 6.3 kDa.
Source: E. coli. Endotoxin level as measured by LAL is <0.05ng/ug or <0.5EU/ug.
Applications: E, WB
Application Notes:
The activity is determined in a viral challenge assay using EMC virus on L929 and is typically less than 0.1 ng/mL. Specific activity: 1 x 10e7 units/mg
Accession No.: P07522
MW: 6300 Da
Sequence:
MNSNTGCPPS YDGYCLNGGV CMYVESVDRY VCNCVIGYIG ERCQHRDLRW WKLR
Purity:
Purity > 95% as determined by RP-HPLC and reducing and non-reducing SDS-PAGE. Protein Content determined by UV spectroscopy at 280 nm and analysis by RP-HPLC calibrated against a known standard. Quantitation on SDS-PAGE against a known standard.
Format:
Each vial contains 100 ug of lyophilized protein. Reconstitute with 1 ml sterile deionized water for a final concentration of 0.1 mg/ml.
Storage: Store at -20°C. Product is guaranteed one year from the date of shipment. Following reconstitution, store at -20°C. We recommend to add a carrier protein (0.1% HSA or BSA) for long term storage.
Pathway and Disease: Signal Transduction, Signaling Molecules and Interaction, Cell Communication, Cell Motility, Cancers
