Protein Family: Cytokines, CAM Ligands
Pathway and Disease: Signal Transduction, Cell Motility, Cancers
Alternate Names: Androgen-induced growth factor, AIGF, Heparin-binding growth factor 8, HBGF-8, fibroblast growth factor 8, FGF8, FGF-8Description:
Fibroblast Growth Factor-8 (FGF-8) has broad functions that involve proliferation, differentiation and cell migration. Inappropriate expression of FGF-8 is linked to increased tumor growth and angiogenesis. There is 100% homology between human and mouse FGF-8. Mouse FGF-8 is produced in E. coli as a non-glycosylated protein containing 194 amino acids, with a total molecular weight of 22.5 kDa.
Source: E. coli. Endotoxin level as measured by LAL is <0.05ng/ug or <0.5EU/ug.
Applications: E, WB
Application Notes:
The activity is determined by its ability to induce proliferation of mouse 3T3 cells and is typically less than 20 ng/mL. Specific activity: 5 x 10e4 units/mg
Accession No.: P37237
MW: 22500 Da
Sequence:
MQVTVQSSPN FTQHVREQSL VTDQLSRRLI RTYQLYSRTS GKHVQVLANK RINAMAEDGD PFAKLIVETD TFGSRVRVRG AETGLYICMN KKGKLIAKSN GKGKDCVFTE IVLENNYTAL QNAKYEGWYM AFTRKGRPRK GSKTRQHQRE VHFMKRLPRG HHTTEQSLRF EFLNYPPFTR SLRGSQRTWA PEPR
Purity:
Purity > 95% as determined by RP-HPLC and reducing and non-reducing SDS-PAGE. Protein Content determined by UV spectroscopy at 280 nm and analysis by RP-HPLC calibrated against a known standard. Quantitation on SDS-PAGE against a known standard.
Format:
Each vial contains 25 ug of lyophilized protein. Reconstitute with 0.25 ml sterile deionized water for a final concentration of 0.1 mg/ml.
Storage: Store at -20°C. Product is guaranteed one year from the date of shipment. Following reconstitution, store at -20°C. We recommend to add a carrier protein (0.1% HSA or BSA) for long term storage.
Pathway and Disease: Signal Transduction, Cell Motility, Cancers
