Protein Family: Cytokines, CAM ligands
Pathway and Disease: Signal Transduction, Cancers, Cell Motility, Cell Growth and Death
Alternate Names: Heparin-binding growth factor 2, HBGF-2, Basic fibroblast growth factor, BFGF, FGF2, FGF-2Description:
Fibroblast Growth Factors (FGFs) are a 22 member family of proteins known to be involved in angiogenesis, wound healing and embryonic development. As a family, they bind to heparin and signal through four receptor tyrosine kinases called, FGFR1, 2, 3 and 4. Rat FGF basic is produced in E.coli. Recombinant rat FGF-basic is a non-glycosylated protein, containing 146 amino acids, with a molecular weight of 16.4 kDa.
Source: E. coli. Endotoxin level as measured by LAL is <0.05ng/ug or <0.5EU/ug.
Applications: E, WB
Application Notes:
The activity is determined by the dose-dependent proliferation of 3T3 cells and is typically less than 1 ng/mL. Specific activity: 1 x 10e6 units/mg
Accession No.: P08025
MW: 16400 Da
Sequence:

Purity:
Purity > 95% as determined by RP-HPLC and reducing and non-reducing SDS-PAGE. Protein Content determined by UV spectroscopy at 280 nm and analysis by RP-HPLC calibrated against a known standard. Quantitation on SDS-PAGE against a known standard.
Format:
Each vial contains 50 ug of lyophilized protein. Reconstitute with 0.5 ml sterile deionized water for a final concentration of 0.1 mg/ml.
Storage: Store at -20°C. Product is guaranteed one year from the date of shipment. Following reconstitution, store at -20°C. We recommend to add a carrier protein (0.1% HSA or BSA) for long term storage.
Pathway and Disease: Signal Transduction, Cancers, Cell Motility, Cell Growth and Death
