Isotype: Rabbit Ig
Applications: E, WB, IHC, IP
Protein Family: Receptors and Channels
Pathway and Disease: Signaling Molecules and Interaction
Description:
Gamma-aminobutyric acid type B receptor subunit 2 (GABABR2) is a receptor for GABA. The activity of GABABR2 is mediated by G-proteins that inhibit adenylyl cyclase activity, stimulate phospholipase A2, activate potassium channels, inactivate voltage-dependent calcium-channels and modulate inositol phospholipid hydrolysis. GABABR2 plays a critical role in the fine-tuning of inhibitory synaptic transmission. Pre-synaptic GABABR2 inhibits neurotransmitter release by down-regulating high-voltage activated calcium channels, whereas postsynaptic GABABR2 decreases neuronal excitability by activating a prominent inwardly rectifying potassium (Kir) conductance that underlies the late inhibitory postsynaptic potentials. GABABR2 is not only implicated in synaptic inhibition but also in hippocampal long-term potentiation, slow wave sleep, muscle relaxation and antinociception.
Alternate Names: GABABR2, GABA-B receptor 2, Gamma-aminobutyric acid type B receptor subunit 2, GABA-B-R2, GABA-BR2, Gb2, G-protein coupled receptor 51, HG20, GABBR2, GPR51, GPRC3B
Application Notes: E: 1:500-1:1,000; WB: 1:100-1:500; IHC: 1:100-1:500; IP: 1:100-1:500
