Description:
Growth-associated protein 43 (GAP-43) is associated with nerve growth. GAP-43 is a major component of the motile "growth cones" that form the tips of elongating axons. Phosphorylation of GAP-43 by a protein kinase C is specifically correlated with certain forms of synaptic plasticity.
