Protein Family: Cytokines
Pathway and Disease: Signaling Molecules and Interaction, Cell Growth and Death
Alternate Names: Growth/differentiation factor 11, GDF-11, GDF11, Bone morphogenetic protein 11, BMP11, BMP-11Description:
Growth differentiation factor 11 (GDF-11 or BMP-11) is an important developmental factor that regulates muscular and neural development. In adults, GDF-11 is suspected to promote the reversal of cardiac hypertrophy by the regeneration of cardiomyocytes. Human GDF-11 is produced in E. coli as a non-glycosylated homodimer, containing two 109 amino acids chains, with each having a molecular weight of 12.5 kDa.
Source: E. coli. Endotoxin level as measured by LAL is <0.05ng/ug or <0.5EU/ug.
Applications: E, WB
Application Notes:
The activity is determined by the ability to decrease alkaline phosphatase activity in ATDC5 cells and is typically less than 1 ng/mL. Specific activity: 1 x 10e6 units/mg
Accession No.: O95390
MW: 12500 Da
Sequence:
NLGLDCDEHS SESRCCRYPL TVDFEAFGWD WIIAPKRYKA NYCSGQCEYM FMQKYPHTHL VQQANPRGSA GPCCTPTKMS PINMLYFNDK QQIIYGKIPG MVVDRCGCS
Purity:
Purity > 95% as determined by RP-HPLC and reducing and non-reducing SDS-PAGE. Protein Content determined by UV spectroscopy at 280 nm and analysis by RP-HPLC calibrated against a known standard. Quantitation on SDS-PAGE against a known standard.
Format:
Each vial contains 20 ug of lyophilized protein. Reconstitute with 0.2 ml sterile deionized water for a final concentration of 0.1 mg/ml.
Storage: Store at -20°C. Product is guaranteed one year from the date of shipment. Following reconstitution, store at -20°C. We recommend to add a carrier protein (0.1% HSA or BSA) for long term storage.
Pathway and Disease: Signaling Molecules and Interaction, Cell Growth and Death
