Protein Family: Cytokines
Pathway and Disease: Signal Transduction, Signaling Molecules and Interaction
Alternate Names: GDF-15, Growth/differentiation factor 15, MIC-1, Placental TGFbeta, Prostate differentiation factorDescription:
Growth and Differentiation Factor 15 (GDF-15) is a TGFbeta family member, made by the placenta and heart tissues, that has a role in regulating inflammatory and apoptotic pathways. GDF-15 has become an immerging marker of early heart disease and has the potential as being used as a molecule for screening patients for early heart failure. Human GDF-17 is produced in E.coli. Recombinant human GDF-15 D is a non-glycosylated, disulfide linked homodimer, containing two identical 120 amino acid chains, with a total molecular weight of 26.8 kDa. There is a His to an Asp substitution at position 7.
Source: E. coli. Endotoxin level as measured by LAL is <0.05ng/ug or <0.5EU/ug.
Applications: E, WB
Application Notes:
The activity can be determined by the inhibition of DU-145 cells and is typically 1-2 ug/mL. There is no biological assay data available at this time. Specific activity: 1 x 10e3 units/mg
Accession No.: Q99988
MW: 24500 Da
Sequence:
MARNGDHCPL GPGRCCRLHT VRASLEDLGW ADWVLSPREV QVTMCIGACP SQFRAANMHA QIKTSLHRLK PDTVPAPCCV PASYNPMVLI QKTDTGVSLQ TYDDLLAKDC HCI
Purity:
Purity > 95% as determined by RP-HPLC and reducing and non-reducing SDS-PAGE. Protein Content determined by UV spectroscopy at 280 nm and analysis by RP-HPLC calibrated against a known standard. Quantitation on SDS-PAGE against a known standard.
Format:
Each vial contains 20 ug of lyophilized protein. Reconstitute with 0.2 ml sterile deionized water for a final concentration of 0.1 mg/ml.
Storage: Store at -20°C. Product is guaranteed one year from the date of shipment. Following reconstitution, store at -20°C. We recommend to add a carrier protein (0.1% HSA or BSA) for long term storage.
