Protein Family: Cytokines
Pathway and Disease: Cell Growth and Death, Development and Behavior, Signaling Molecules and Interaction, Signal Transduction
Alternate Names: Growth/differentiation factor 5, GDF-5, cartilage-derived morphogenetic protein 1, CDMP-1, Radotermin, GDF5, CDMP1Description:
Growth/differentiation factor 5 (GDF-5) is a disulfide-linked homodimer protein involved in bone formation. Defects in GDF5 are the cause of various chondrodysplasia syndromes. Recombinant Human GDF-5 produced in E. coli is a non-glycosylated homodimer polypeptide chain containing 2 x 117 amino acids with a MW of 26.8 kDa. To enable bacterial expression of rhGDF-5, the N-terminal sequence Ala-Pro-Leu-Thr is replaced by Lys.
Source: E. coli. Endotoxin level as measured by LAL is <0.01ng/ug or <0.1EU/ug.
Applications: E, WB
Application Notes:
Human GDF-5 is fully biologically active when compared to standard. Induction of alkaline phosphatase activity in ATDC5 cells: EC50 = 4ug/ml.
Accession No.: P43026
MW: 26800 Da
Sequence:
APSATRQGKR PSKNLKARCS RKALHVNFKD MGWDDWIIAP LEYEAFHCEG LCEFPLRSHL EPTNHAVIQT LMNSMDPEST PPTCCVPTRL SPISILFIDS ANNVVYKQYE DMVVESCGCR
Purity:
Purity > 98% as determined by RP-HPLC and reducing and non-reducing SDS-PAGE. Protein Content determined by UV spectroscopy at 280 nm and analysis by RP-HPLC calibrated against a known standard. Quantitation on SDS-PAGE against a known standard.
Format:
Each vial contains 50 ug of lyophilized protein. Reconstitute with 0.5 ml sterile deionized water for a final concentration of 0.1 mg/ml.
Storage: Store at -20°C. Product is guaranteed one year from the date of shipment. Following reconstitution, store at -20°C. We recommend to add a carrier protein (0.1% HSA or BSA) for long term storage.
Pathway and Disease: Cell Growth and Death, Development and Behavior, Signaling Molecules and Interaction, Signal Transduction
