Isotype: Rabbit Ig
Applications: E, WB, IHC
Protein Family: Hormones
Pathway and Disease: Carbohydrate Metabolism, Endocrine System, Metabolic Disorders, Signaling Molecules and Interaction
Description:
GLP-1 stimulates glucose-dependent insulin release, therefore suppressing plasma glucagon levels, and stimulating glucose disposal in peripheral tissues. In addition, it plays an important role in gastric motility via growth-promoting activities on intestinal epithelium. In the pancreas, it regulates the hypothalamic pituitary axis through its affects on LH, TSH, CRH, oxytocin, and vasopressin secretion. Finally it stimulates islet neogenesis and pancreatic beta cell proliferation while suppressing beta cell apoptosis.
Alternate Names: Glucagon, Glucagon-like peptide 1, GLP-1, Glucagon-like peptide 1(7-37), GLP-1(7-37), Glucagon-like peptide 1(7-36), GLP-1(7-36), GCG
Application Notes: E: 1:500-1:1,000; WB: 1:200-1:500; IHC: 1:200-1:500
Accession No.: P01275
Antigen: KLH-conjugated synthetic peptide encompassing human GLP-1(7-36).
