Fatty acid binding protein (ileal) (IL-FABP) stimulates gastric acid and pepsinogen secretion. It binds to bile salts and bilirubins. Recombinant IL-FABP comprises a 128 amino acid fragment (1-128) corresponding to the human ileal FABP protein and is expressed in E. coli with an amino-terminal hexahistidine tag.
