Protein Family: Cytokines
Pathway and Disease: Cancers, Cell Growth and Death, Cell Communication, Nervous and Sensory Systems, Signal Transduction
Alternate Names: Insulin-like growth factor I, IGF1, Somatomedin-C, Mechano growth factor, MGF, IBP1Description:
Insulin-like growth factor I (IGF1) is a well-characterized basic peptide believed to be secreted by the liver and to circulate in the blood. IGF1 has growth-regulating, insulin-like, and mitogenic activities. This growth factor has a major, but not absolute, dependence on Somatotropin. It is believed to be mainly active in adults in contrast to Insulin like Growth Factor 2, which is a major fetal growth factor. Recombinant Human IGF1 produced in E. coli is a single non-glycosylated polypeptide chain containing 70 amino acids with a MW of 7,655 Da.
Source: E. coli. Endotoxin level as measured by LAL is <0.01ng/ug or <0.1EU/ug.
Applications: E, WB
Application Notes:
IGF-I is fully biologically active when compared to standards. The ED50, calculated by the dose-dependent proliferation of mouse BALBC 3T3 cells is less then 1.0 ng/ml.. For most in-vitro applications, IGF-I exerts its biological activity in the concentration range of 0.2-20 ng/ml.
Accession No.: P01343
MW: 7655 Da
Sequence:
GPETLCGAEL VDALQFVCGD RGFYFNKPTG YGSSSRRAPQ TGIVDECCFR SCDLRRLEMY CAPLKPAKSA
Purity:
Purity > 98% as determined by RP-HPLC and reducing and non-reducing SDS-PAGE. Protein Content determined by UV spectroscopy at 280 nm and analysis by RP-HPLC calibrated against a known standard. Quantitation on SDS-PAGE against a known standard.
Format:
Each vial contains 100 ug of lyophilized protein. Reconstitute with 0.1 ml sterile deionized water for a final concentration of 0.1 mg/ml.
Storage: Store at -20°C. Product is guaranteed one year from the date of shipment. Following reconstitution, store at -20°C. We recommend to add a carrier protein (0.1% HSA or BSA) for long term storage.
Pathway and Disease: Cancers, Cell Growth and Death, Cell Communication, Nervous and Sensory Systems, Signal Transduction
