Description:
IkB-alphs (nuclear factor of kappa light polypeptide gene enhancer in B-cells inhibitor, alpha) is one member of a family of cellular proteins that function to inhibit the NF-kB transcription factor. IkB-alpha inhibits NF-kB by masking the nuclear localization signals (NLS) of NF-kB proteins and keeping them sequestered in an inactive state in the cytoplasm. In addition, IkB-alpha blocks the ability of NF-kB transcription factors to bind to DNA, which is required for NF-kB's proper functioning. Mutations in the gene encoding IkB-alpha have linked to Hodgkin's lymphoma.
Alternate Names: NF-kappa B inhibitor alpha, I-kappa-B-alpha, IkappaBalpha, IkB-alpha, Major histocompatibility complex enhancer-binding protein MAD3, NFKBIA, IKBA, NFKBI
Application Notes: E: 1:500-1:1,000; WB: 1:100-1:500; IHC: 1:100-1:500; IP: 1:100-1:500
Accession No.: P25963
Antigen: KLH-conjugated synthetic peptide encompassing a sequence within the N-term region of human IkB-alpha.
Format: Each vial contains 0.1 mg IgG in 0.1 ml (1 mg/ml) of PBS pH7.4 with 0.09% sodium azide. Antibody was purified by Protein-G affinity chromatography.
