Protein Family: Cytokines
Pathway and Disease: Immune System, Signal Transduction, Signaling Molecules and Interaction
Alternate Names: interleukin-13, IL-13Description:
Interleukin-13 (IL-13) is a multifunctional cytokine whose net principle action is to diminish inflammatory responses. IL-13 is an important cytokine secreted from type 2 helper T lymphocytes. It is essential for modulating IgE synthesis by human B cells. Previous studies showed that polymorphisms in the IL-13 gene were associated with serum total IgE or allergic asthma. IL-13 is a pleiotropic cytokine, which shares many biological functions with IL-4. Recombinant Human IL-13 produced in E. coli is a single non-glycosylated polypeptide chain containing 114 amino acids with a MW of 12.5 kDa.
Source: E. coli. Endotoxin level as measured by LAL is <0.01ng/ug or <0.1EU/ug.
Applications: E, WB
Application Notes:
Human IL-13 is fully biologically active when compared to standard. The ED50 was determined by the dose dependent proliferation of TF-1 cells and was found to be < 1ng/ml.
Accession No.: P35225
MW: 12500 Da
Sequence:
SPGPVPPSTA LRELIEELVN ITQNQKAPLC NGSMVWSINL TAGMYCAALE SLINVSGCSA IEKTQRMLSG FCPHKVSAGQ FSSLHVRDTK IEVAQFVKDL LLHLKKLFRE GRFN
Purity:
Purity > 95% as determined by RP-HPLC and reducing and non-reducing SDS-PAGE. Protein Content determined by UV spectroscopy at 280 nm and analysis by RP-HPLC calibrated against a known standard. Quantitation on SDS-PAGE against a known standard.
Format:
Each vial contains 10 ug protein lyophilized in 10 mM sodium citrate pH3.0. Reconstitute with 0.1 ml sterile deionized water for a final concentration of 0.1 mg/ml.
Storage: Store at -20°C. Product is guaranteed one year from the date of shipment. Following reconstitution, store at -20°C. We recommend to add a carrier protein (0.1% HSA or BSA) for long term storage.
Pathway and Disease: Immune System, Signal Transduction, Signaling Molecules and Interaction
