Protein Family: Cytokines
Pathway and Disease: Immune System, Signal Transduction, Signaling Molecules and Interaction
Alternate Names: interleukin-17A, IL-17A, IL-17, Cytotoxic T-lymphocyte-associated antigen 8, IL17ADescription:
Rat IL-17A (IL-17), also known as CTLA-8, is a proinflammatory cytokine member of a six-species family of proteins (IL-17A-17F). Rat IL-17A protein is a homodimer consisting of two 134 amino acid peptides. IL-17A is secreted mainly by activated CD4+ and CD8+ T lymphocytes and acts through its receptor, IL-17R, to induce the expression of many mediators of inflammation, most strikingly, those that are involved in the proliferation, maturation and chemotaxis of neutrophils. Elevated levels of IL-17A have been associated with several conditions, including rheumatoid arthritis, airway inflammation, allograft rejection, inflammatory bowel disease, psoriasis, cancer and multiple sclerosis. There is 58% identity between the amino acid sequence of human and rat IL-17A. Recombinant rat IL-17A produced in E. coli is a non-glycosylated disulfide-joined homodimer with a MW of 30.0 kDa.
Source: E. coli. Endotoxin level as measured by LAL is <0.01ng/ug or <0.1EU/ug.
Applications: E, WB
Application Notes:
Rat IL-17A is fully biologically active when compared to standards via dose-dependent induction of IL-6 production in cultured mouse NIH 3T3 fibroblasts. The ED50 for recombinant rat IL-17A in this assay was 30ng/ml.
Accession No.: Q62386
MW: 30000 Da

Purity:
Purity > 97% as determined by reducing and non-reducing SDS-PAGE. Protein Content determined by UV spectroscopy at 280 nm and quantitation on SDS-PAGE against a known standard.
Format:
Each vial contains 25 ug protein lyophilized in 10 mM sodium citrate pH3.0. Reconstitute with 0.25 ml sterile deionized water for a final concentration of 0.1 mg/ml.
Storage: Store at -20°C. Product is guaranteed one year from the date of shipment. Following reconstitution, store at -20°C. We recommend to add a carrier protein (0.1% HSA or BSA) for long term storage.
