Protein Family: Cytokines
Pathway and Disease: Immune System, Signal Transduction, Signaling Molecules and Interaction
Alternate Names: interleukin-17A, IL-17A, IL-17, Cytotoxic T-lymphocyte-associated antigen 8, IL17A, CTLA8, IL17Description:
Interleukin-17A (IL-17A or CTLA-8) induces stromal cells to produce proinflammatory cytokines. IL-17A enhances the surface expression of the intracellular adhesion molecule-1 (ICAM-1) in fibroblasts. Elevated levels of IL-17A have been associated with several conditions, including rheumatoid arthritis, airway inflammation, allograft rejection, inflammatory bowel disease, psoriasis, cancer and multiple sclerosis. Human, mouse and rat IL-17A show activity on mouse cells. Recombinant Human IL-17A produced in E. coli is a homodimeric non-glycosylated disulfide-linked homodimer containing two 137 amino acid chains with a MW of 31,332 Da. The recombinant protein corresponds to full-length IL-17A and has cytokine production activity on mouse cells.
Source: E. coli. Endotoxin level as measured by LAL is <0.1 ng/ug or <1 EU/ug.
Applications: E, WB
Application Notes:
Human IL-17A is fully biologically active when compared to standard. The ED50 as determined by the dose-dependent production of IL-6 in cultured mouse NIH-3T3 fibroblast cells is typically 1.5-7 ng/ml.
Accession No.: Q16552
MW: 31332 Da

Purity:
Purity > 98% as determined by reducing and non-reducing SDS-PAGE. Protein Content determined by UV spectroscopy at 280 nm and analysis by RP-HPLC calibrated against a known standard. Quantitation on SDS-PAGE against a known standard.
Format:
Each vial contains 25 ug of lyophilized protein. Reconstitute with 0.25 ml sterile deionized water for a final concentration of 0.1 mg/ml.
Storage: Store at -20°C. Product is guaranteed one year from the date of shipment. Following reconstitution, store at -20°C. We recommend to add a carrier protein (0.1% HSA or BSA) for long term storage.
