Protein Family: Cytokines, Glycan Binding Proteins
Pathway and Disease: Signal Transduction, Signaling Molecules and Interaction, Immune System
Alternate Names: Interleukin-5, IL-5, Interleukin 5, IL5, B-cell growth factor II, BCGF-II, Cytotoxic T-lymphocyte inducer, eosinophil differentiation factor, T-cell replacing factor, TRF, EDFDescription:
Interleukin-5 (IL-5) is a hematopoietic growth factor expressed in Th2, mast cells and eosinophils. IL-5 acts through its receptor, the IL-5 receptor (IL-5R) and is involved in B cell growth and eosinophil activation. IL-5 has been shown to be and is regulated by GATA-3, in addition to other transcription factors. Human and mouse IL-5 are cross-reactive. Mouse IL-5 is produced in E.coli. Recombinant mouse IL-5 is a non-glycosylated, disulfide-linked homodimer, containing two 113 amino acid chains, with a total molecular weight of 26.2 kDa.
Source: E. coli. Endotoxin level as measured by LAL is <0.05ng/ug or <0.5EU/ug.
Applications: E, WB
Application Notes:
The activity can be determined by the dose-dependent induction of TF-1 cell proliferation and is typically less than 2 ng/mL. There is no biological assay data available at this time. Specific activity: 5 x 10e5 units/mg
Accession No.: P04401
MW: 26200 Da
Sequence:
MEIPMSTVVK ETLTQLSAHR ALLTSNETMR LPVPTHKNHQ LCIGEIFQGL DILKNQTVRG GTVEMLFQNL SLIKKYIDRQ KEKCGEERRR TRQFLDYLQE FLGVMSTEWA MEG
Purity:
Purity > 95% as determined by RP-HPLC and reducing and non-reducing SDS-PAGE. Protein Content determined by UV spectroscopy at 280 nm and analysis by RP-HPLC calibrated against a known standard. Quantitation on SDS-PAGE against a known standard.
Format:
Each vial contains 25 ug of lyophilized protein. Reconstitute with 0.25 ml sterile deionized water for a final concentration of 0.1 mg/ml.
Storage: Store at -20°C. Product is guaranteed one year from the date of shipment. Following reconstitution, store at -20°C. We recommend to add a carrier protein (0.1% HSA or BSA) for long term storage.
Pathway and Disease: Signal Transduction, Signaling Molecules and Interaction, Immune System
