Protein Family: Cytokines

Pathway and Disease: Cell Growth and Death, Immune System, Signal Transduction, Signaling Molecules and Interaction

Alternate Names: interleukin-7, IL-7Description:
Interleukin-7 (IL-7), which is constitutively produced particularly by stromal cells from the bone marrow and thymus, plays a crucial role in T cell homeostasis. IL-7 is implicated in thymopoiesis by sustaining thymocyte proliferation and survival. IL-7 regulates peripheral naive T cell survival by modulating the expression of the anti-apoptotic molecule Bcl-2, and sustains peripheral T cell expansion in response to antigenic stimulation. Infection by the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) leads to severe T lymphopenia and general immune dysfunction. Increased IL-7 plasma levels are generally observed in HIV-infected patients. Recombinant Human IL-7 produced in E. coli is a single non-glycosylated polypeptide chain containing 153 amino acids with a MW of 17,412 Da.

Source: E. coli. Endotoxin level as measured by LAL is <0.01ng/ug or <0.1EU/ug.

Applications: E, WB

Application Notes:
rH-IL-7 is fully biologically active when compared to standard. The ED50 as determined by the dose-dependant stimulation of mouse IXN/2B cells is less then 0.5ng/ml, corresponding to a Specific Activity of 2 x 106 IU/mg.

Accession No.: P13232

MW: 17412 Da

Purity:
Purity > 98% as determined by RP-HPLC and reducing and non-reducing SDS-PAGE. Protein Content determined by UV spectroscopy at 280 nm and analysis by RP-HPLC calibrated against a known standard. Quantitation on SDS-PAGE against a known standard.

Format:
Each vial contains 10 ug of lyophilized protein. Reconstitute with 0.1 ml sterile deionized water for a final concentration of 0.1 mg/ml.

Storage: Store at -20°C. Product is guaranteed one year from the date of shipment. Following reconstitution, store at -20°C. We recommend to add a carrier protein (0.1% HSA or BSA) for long term storage.
