Imidazole (C3H4N2) buffer has a 0.5M concentration and a pH level of 6.0. It has a density of 1.23 g/cm3, boiling point of 256°C and a melting point of 89-91°C. It is for laboratory use only, not fit for agricultural, household, clinical use or human consumption.
Imidazole can be used to prepare buffers in the pH range of 6.2 – 7.8 at 25°C. The pH of the buffer is adjusted with HCl. It is also a chelator for the binding of various divalent cations.
