The NUP98 Break Apart Probe detects rearrangements of the NUP98 gene.

The NUP98 gene, located on chromosome 11p15, is an important tumor-suppressor gene that is frequently fused with homeobox genes which are closely associated with myeloid leukemias. Translocations t(7;11)(p15;p15), involving the HOXA9 gene, and t(11;20)(p15;q11), involving the TOP1 gene, are both frequently associated with acute myeloid leukemia (AML). Other frequent gene rearrangements include inv(11)(p15q22) and t(11;11)(p15;q22,), involving the DDX10 gene, are associated with Myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS) and Acute Non Lymphoblastic Leukemia. Other NUP98 mutations are associated with, T-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (T-ALL), wilms tumor, rhabdomyosarcoma, adrenocortical carcinoma, lung cancer, ovarian cancer, and breast cancer.

Empire Genomics has developed a NUP98 Break Apart FISH Probe that can be used to detect NUP98 gene rearrangements. The probe comes labeled in orange and green, and you may also choose to customize the probe to meet your needs.
