The RET Break Apart FISH Probe localizes to the RET gene allowing confirmation of rearrangements of the gene.
The RET proto-oncogene codes for a tyrosine kinase. Mutations of the RET gene result in an overactive signaling function triggering uncontrolled cell division. Mutations of the RET gene resulting in gain of function are associated with multiple endocrine neoplasia types IIA and IIB, medullary thyroid carcinoma, pheochromocytoma and parathyroid tumors. Rearrangements with over 15 different partners have been identified.
Empire Genomics has developed a RET Break Apart probe which can be used to detect a rearrangement of the RET gene. The probe comes labeled in green and orange, and you may also choose to customize the probe to meet your needs.
