Sabouraud Dextrose Broth

Peptone is the media used as a nitrogen source for te development of fungi. Dextrose acts as an energy source for the growth of microorganisms. The low pH is favorable for the development of fungi, especially dermatophytes, but at the same time inhibits the development of contaminating bacteria from clinical specimens.
