TE Buffer 20X pH 8.0

TE buffer is a commonly used buffer solution in procedures involving DNA or RNA. Tris is a common pH buffer while EDTA inactivates nucleases by chelating cations like Mg2+. TE buffer functions to solubilize DNA or RNA while protecting it from degradation. This buffer is used at different pH values and has become the standard buffer for the storage of nucleic acids. It is generally prepared by mixing stock solutions of Tris·HCl (pH 8.0) with EDTA stock solution (0.5 M; pH 8.0). The pH 8.0 is usually used for storing DNA.
