Background:
Ubiquitin (Ub) is among the most phylogenetically conserved proteins known. The primary function of ubiquitin is to clear abnormal, foreign and improperly folded proteins by targeting them for degradation by the 26S proteosome. This small, 76 amino acid protein can be covalently attached to cellular proteins via an isopeptide linkage between the carboxy terminal group of ubiquitin and lysine amino groups on the acceptor protein. For proteolysis to occur, ubiquitin oligomers must be assembled. Ubiquitin chains on proteolytic substrates are commonly found to have an isopeptide bridge between Lysine 48 of one ubiquitin molecule and the carboxy-terminus of a neighboring ubiquitin molecule.
Alternative Name:
Polyubiquitin B, RPS 27A, RPS27A, UBA 52, UBA 80, UBA52, UBA80, UBB, UBC, UBCEP 1, UBCEP 2, UBCEP1, UBCEP2, Ubiquitin, ubiquitin B
Application Dilution: WB: 1:500~1:1000
Specificity: Ac-Ubiquitin (K27) polyclonal antibody detects endogenous levels of Ubiquitin only when acetylated at Lys27. This antibody also recognizes polyubiquitin or ubiquitinated protein when acetylated at the corresponding residues.
Immunogen:
A synthetic peptide corresponding to residues in Ubiquitin around the acetylated site of Lys27.
MW: ~ *8 kDa or Uncertain
Swis Prot.: P62988
Purification & Purity:
The antibody was affinity-purified from rabbit antiserum by affinity-chromatography using epitope-specific immunogen and the purity is > 103% (by SDS-PAGE).
Format:
1 mg/ml in Phosphate buffered saline (PBS) with 0.05% sodium azide, approx. pH 7.11.
Storage:
Store at 4°C short term. Aliquot and store at -28°C long term. Avoid freeze-thaw cycles.
For research use only, not for use in diagnostic procedure.
